According to CoinMeta, Raiffeisen Bank International ( RBI ) has collaborated with Bitpanda to create a common digital asset framework for their bank network in Central and Eastern Europe, which could potentially enable up to 18 million customers to access cryptocurrency services. According to Bitpanda, this agreement will provide the necessary infrastructure for RBI network banks to launch digital asset services in their respective markets. Each bank will decide which products to offer and when to launch them based on local regulations and market conditions. This arrangement expands on the model already used by Raiffeisen banks in Austria, allowing customers to access cryptocurrencies through their existing banking environments without the need to open separate accounts on cryptocurrency platforms. RBI operates subsidiaries in 11 Central and Eastern European markets, serving over 18 million customers. Bitpanda will provide the underlying digital asset technology for this network, creating a common setup that participating banks can use when launching their own services.
