CoinMeta data: According to Cointelegraph, a malicious iOS application fomopeek has been found to contain multiple kernel vulnerability exploitation modules that can bypass Apple's sandbox and access sensitive wallet data from other applications. This is linked to a theft of nearly $580,000 in encrypted assets. Blockchain security company SlowMist stated that the application was distributed through Apple's App Store; affected versions were released on September 9th and September 12th and contained two malicious modules that allowed access to higher permissions as well as data and files from other applications' keychain. The related malicious components were removed in version 1.3, which was released on September 17th. Investigations by the security teams of SlowMist and OKX revealed that the attack framework included 8 different attack methods and targeted iOS versions ranging from 12.0 to 18.7.2 and from 26.0 to 26.1. On-chain analysis showed that a hacker account associated with the incident received approximately 580,000 USDT; the funds were then transferred through multiple accounts and services, with some going to FixedFloat, KuCoin, and CCE.Cash.
