News from the IT community on November 7th: Blackmagic Design released the Da Vinci DaVinci Resolve 21.2 update yesterday (November 6th), and also updated DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.2 (the paid version), which brings touch support to editing, color grading, and special effects workflows, among other features.
Da Vinci DaVinci Resolve is a professional video post-production software developed by Blackmagic Design. It integrates editing, color grading, visual effects, audio post-production, and photo processing into a single application, and is commonly used in the production of short films, advertisements, documentaries, movies, and self-media content.

According to a blog post cited by IT, the most notable improvement in this update is the native support for Apple's first touch MacBook Pro equipped with a PROLED XDR screen. Creators can now scroll through timelines with their fingers, drag and drop media, add special effects and subtitles, and zoom in on the footage within the viewer, making mobile editing and color grading closer to an "immediately usable" experience.
In terms of performance, Blackmagic claims that the new version can increase the rendering speed of special effects by up to 5 times on devices equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. For video teams that frequently work with high-resolution materials, complex compositing, and a large number of color grading steps, this optimization is expected to significantly reduce the waiting time for exporting and previewing.

In terms of color workflows, DaVinci Resolve 21.2 has newly added support for Blackmagic Generation 6 and Color Science LUT film styles. ResolveFX False Color is also compatible with both Gen 5 and Gen color science, allowing users to maintain a more consistent visual output when working with different camera materials and color grading processes.
In terms of editing experience, multi-camera clip editing segments can now be opened as source segments within the source timeline; extracting audio files retains the source timecode; improvements have also been made to composite clips and the metadata of EXIF within PNG. The software has also fixed a large number of issues related to audio, AAF, OGraf, H.265, and XDCAM media, and includes over 25 corrections for stability and performance.
Studio version users will also receive more comprehensive AI assistant features, including extended capabilities in color tuning and Fusion operations, as well as improvements to script API. The AI assistant can further handle tasks related to frames and thumbnails, helping creators reduce repetitive operations.
DaVinci Resolve Version 21.2 is now available for free download through Blackmagic Design; DaVinci Resolve Studio still adopts a one-time purchase license model, with a price of $239.99 (Note from IT: The current exchange rate is approximately 1,605 RMB).
