Here are some other industry developments in the market this week:
Eli Lilly and Company ( NYSE : LLY )
On October 29, Eli Lilly announced that its revenue in the third quarter increased by 39% to $24.4 billion, mainly driven by Mounjaro and Zepbound; total revenue also included approximately $900 million from milestone payments related to Jardiance as well as favorable adjustments to estimates for rebates and discounts. The company raised its revenue guidance for 2026 by $5.5 billion to a range of $91 billion to $92 billion. Global Mounjaro revenue grew by 65% to $10.7 billion; U.S. Zepbound revenue increased by 48% to $5.3 billion.
Pricing factors are prevalent throughout the report. Global sales volume increased by 53%, but prices decreased by 15%; in the United States, 41% of the sales growth was offset by a 7% decrease in realized prices. Eli Lilly is listed among the risk factors, as the implementation of voluntary agreements reached with the U.S. government regarding drug pricing and accessibility, as well as the actions taken by the government and private entities regarding drug pricing, reimbursement, and patient access, could all lead to actual results differing from expectations.
"Lilly has once again experienced a strong quarter, with results exceeding our previous expectations, which also allows us to raise our full-year outlook," said David A, Chairman and CEO of Lilly. Ricks.
Caterpillar Company ( NYSE : CAT )
Caterpillar stated on October 29th that sales and revenue in the third quarter increased by 17% to $20.7 billion; earnings per share were $7.13, and adjusted earnings per share were $7.20, compared to $4.88 and $4.95 respectively in the same period last year. The operating margin was 20.4%, higher than the 17.3% in the third quarter of 2025. Sales in the power generation business grew by 30% to $3.42 billion, mainly from turbines and related services, as well as large reciprocating engines, which are primarily used in data center applications.
Trade policies are directly reflected in performance. In the third quarter, operating profits included $128 million in tariff compensation related to the International Emergency Economic Powers Act ( IEEPA ); the company stated that the unfavorable manufacturing costs in the resources industry sector were mainly due to higher material costs, which included tariffs. Caterpillar listed among its risk factors that the implementation of new tariffs or changes to existing tariff rates could affect its performance.
"Our third-quarter performance reflects the resilience of the end-market, with strong order rates and record backlogs," said Joe Creed, Chairman and CEO of Caterpillar.
MasterCard Corporation ( NYSE : MA )
MasterCard stated on October 29 that its net revenue in the third quarter increased by 14% to $9.8 billion; this applies both to the reported currency and at a fixed exchange rate. Diluted earnings per share rose from $4.34 in the same period last year to $5.28. Total transaction volume increased by 7% when calculated in local currencies, cross-border transactions grew by 11%, and net revenue from value-added services and solutions increased by 19%. During this quarter, the company repurchased 5.3 million shares for $3 billion and paid out dividends of $763 million.
Card organization economics remain a policy issue. Mastercard lists regulations related to the payment industry among its risk factors, including regulations surrounding interchange fees and surcharges, as well as legislative and litigation activities, all of which could affect its performance. Its special items for the third quarter included $74 million in pre-tax expenses, mainly resulting from settlements reached with merchants that chose to withdraw from a class-action lawsuit against U.S. merchants.
"More MasterCard credentials are in the hands of more people, providing us with a strong foundation, and enhanced by our global coverage and innovation capabilities," said MasterCard's CEO Michael Miebach.
Arista Networks, Inc. (NYSE : ANET)
Arista Networks stated on Tuesday that third-quarter revenue was approximately $3.66 billion, a 58.5% increase from the third quarter of 2025 and higher than its guidance of $3.3 billion. This represents the company's highest year-over-year revenue growth rate since IPO. On a GAAP basis, diluted earnings per share were $1.22, compared to $0.67 in the same period last year; Arista expects fourth-quarter revenue to be between $3.9 billion and $4 billion.
Arista also indicates that it has collaborated with companies such as AMD, Broadcom, Meta, and Microsoft to launch an open-standard rack-level architecture for AI networks that are scalable for both expansion and contraction. The list of risk factors includes the potential escalation or intensification of US tariffs, as well as countermeasures and retaliatory actions taken by other countries, increased import and export restrictions, issues in the development and use of artificial intelligence, and an uncertain regulatory environment.
"Arista has once again delivered a milestone quarter, achieving the highest year-over-year revenue growth and record profits since IPO, which even exceeded my high expectations," said Arista Networks's Chairman and CEO, Jayshree Ullal.
Archer-Daniels - Midland Company ( NYSE : ADM )
ADM On Tuesday, the company raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to approximately $5.50 to $5.80, from the previous range of $5.15 to $5.60. Earnings per share for the third quarter were $1.70, and after adjustment, they are $1.77, compared to $0.22 and $0.92 respectively during the same period last year; total operating profit for both headquarters and branches increased by 64% to $1.4 billion.
Biomass fuel policies occupy an important position in the report. ADM indicates that the profit environment for biomass fuels in North America, behind its extraction operations, remains robust, mainly driven by the increased domestic demand in the United States resulting from the final determination of renewable fuel obligations ( RVO ) in March, as well as rising global energy prices; the profit margins for ethanol in North America also include policy incentives. The company foresees that external factors in the macroeconomic, geopolitical, policy, and trade environments will continue to be monitored.
"ADM delivered strong third-quarter results, with profits significantly higher than the same period last year, and operating profits increased in all business segments," said Juan Luciano, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of ADM.
Drug pricing, tariffs, exchange fees, and biofuel regulations are all mentioned in the latest performance reports of these five companies, along with revenue and profit data.
