New York, November 3, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Bold Security, which provides real-time DLP (data leakage prevention) services for modern endpoints, announced today that it has been selected for the 2027 Fortune Cyber 60 list – an annual ranking of the most important cybersecurity startups that have received venture capital support and have not yet gone public, been acquired, or experienced any other major exits. Bold was included in the “Early Stage” category from its first appearance on the list.

Over the past decade, data leakage prevention ( DLP ) has been widely criticized for excessive false positives and a "false sense of security." Traditional DLP solutions rely on pattern matching; as a result, while they can identify personal identification information ( PII ) and PCI data, they fail to detect source code, financial models, and board of directors documents. The patterns they recognize can also trigger alerts within legitimate work processes, overwhelming teams with notifications, which ultimately leads to the disabling of the interception functions. As a result, these protective tools have become more of detection tools than actual protection mechanisms.

Today, AI is bringing work back to the device side, to locally running desktop assistants and AI proxies, which are not within the monitoring scope of traditional DLP solutions. Bold has redesigned endpoint DLP to run locally on the device side with AI. The small language models on each device classify data based on its meaning rather than patterns, read the context of each action, and intercept or issue commands at the moment the action occurs. The entire process does not require uploading data to the cloud and then returning it, nor is it necessary to write regular expression rules; even if the device is offline, there will be no gaps in functionality.

"For years, the industry has regarded the terminal as an outdated boundary and DLP as a necessary evil, but AI has overturned these assumptions," said Bold Security, co-founder and CEO of Nati Hazut. "Humans and AI agents are transferring sensitive data on devices at a faster rate than security teams, and while DLP is straining the system, its effectiveness is limited. With the help of Bold, we see the terminal as a new area of risk and also the right place to address this issue. Being selected for Fortune Cyber 60 proves this problem and our solution."

Bold was established in 2024 and ended its confidentiality period at the beginning of 2025 after raising $40 million in financing led by Bessemer Venture Partners, Picture Capital, and Red Dot Capital Partners. The company also serves dozens of rapidly growing clients, including Tekion, HiBob, Cresta, and Shutterfly. The founder of Bold previously founded two cybersecurity companies, Polyrize and SAM Seamless Network, which were acquired by Varonis and Qualcomm respectively.

"Every security team is aware that DLP is a problem, but previously few companies were willing to rethink the way these solutions worked," said Bessemer Venture Partners, a partner of Amit Karp. " Bold has done something truly novel: by using AI on terminals, they are able to identify sensitive data without interfering with employees' work and prevent data breaches. That's why we support this team."

The “Fortune Cyber 60™” list is jointly produced by Lightspeed Venture Partners and AWS to honor 60 of the most important cybersecurity startups that have received venture capital support. These companies have not yet gone public, been acquired, or made any other major exits. Lightspeed evaluates hundreds of cybersecurity companies supported by venture capital based on annual recurring revenue, year-over-year growth, and verified operational data, and then divides the list into three groups of 20 each. The complete list can be viewed here.
