Standard Asset Company announced a strategy with an estimated scale of $1.5 billion, which will combine Bitcoin reserves managed by Coinbase with real estate investments in the United Arab Emirates, and a member of the Dubai royal family is also one of its supporters.

The company plans to combine its Bitcoin holdings with real estate investments in the United Arab Emirates.

Coinbase Asset Management will exclusively manage the company's Bitcoin reserves.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum is one of its advisors and shareholders.

The strategy announced by the company describes phased purchases of Bitcoin and the management of profits.

Announcement on Standard Asset Company was released by The Gulf News on October 27th, stating that its headquarters is located in the Abu Dhabi Global Market. The proposed portfolio covers both digital assets and real estate, but it does not specify how much funding is allocated to each area.

Coinbase appointed to manage Bitcoin

According to the announcement, Coinbase Asset Management has been appointed as the exclusive manager of SAC's Bitcoin holdings.

SAC listed in the announcement Sheikh Mohammed Bin Maktoum Bin Juma Al Maktoum – a member of the Dubai royal family – as its advisor and shareholder. Other participants include former White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, co-CEO Coinbase Institutional, and Lord Iain McN a member of the British House of Lords, who is involved in the token issuance.

Tejpaul stated in the announcement: "We are delighted to support SAC as their exclusive Bitcoin asset manager."

This sheikh stated that the returns generated by digital asset strategies will support investments in hotels and real estate in the United Arab Emirates.

Bitcoin purchases will be carried out in phases.

The strategy published by SAC describes a long-term Bitcoin reserve that will be established through phased purchases. The entry decisions will be based on valuation and available liquidity. The proposed management income strategy aims to generate revenue while taking into account liquidity and counterparty risk.

The retained earnings will be used for further purchases of reserve assets and part of the real estate financing, according to the strategy description. In the real estate sector, the company has identified hotel assets and branded residences in the UAE as key areas of investment.

The strategy also lists custody arrangements, asset reconciliation, and transfer control as part of Bitcoin supervision. SAC describes earnings as an investment goal, but they are subject to market and strategic risks, and no returns are guaranteed.

In the company's disclosure documents, SAC lists Standard Asset Co as the transaction name for Standard Proprietary Company Ltd, with the registration number 32213. This business claims to be a proprietary investment company that manages assets for its own accounts.

The disclosure document states that SAC is not a licensed financial services provider and does not provide investment management or financial consulting services to third parties. The document also explains that registration with ADGM in itself does not constitute authorization for financial services, nor does it imply that a particular investment has received regulatory approval.

According to their website, these materials are for discussion purposes only; they do not offer securities, nor do they recommend any investment products. As per their legal disclosures, the website is not involved in the public issuance of securities; the disclosure documents also warn that investors in digital assets may lose their invested capital.

UAE banks and developers offer other cryptocurrency services

As reported by crypto.news on October 14th, Standard Chartered Bank has launched direct cryptocurrency trading services for eligible high-net-worth customers in the United Arab Emirates, allowing customers to trade through their existing bank accounts.

This announcement confirms that this service has been licensed and approved by the Dubai Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, and it is initially targeted at professional investor clients. Clients can use the banking platform without the need to open a separate exchange account or personal cryptocurrency wallet.

This service was jointly developed by Zodia Markets supported by SC Ventures. It operates in a closed model, with Standard Chartered Bank responsible for hosting and settlement. The bank has indicated plans to expand the service to other markets, but no specific locations have been mentioned, nor is there a timeline for its launch.

Before launching direct trading, Standard Chartered Bank offered cryptocurrencies ETF, as well as structured products and over-the-counter derivatives to eligible wealth clients through its cash and stock platform. For more details, please refer to their announcements.

In September 2025, RAK Properties collaborated with Hubpay to accept cryptocurrency payments for real estate purchases from international buyers. This arrangement supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT. The payments are immediately converted into United Arab Emirates dirhams and deposited into the developer's account.

Reports on the agreement indicate that Hubpay and its licensed partners are responsible for transaction processing. The program is aimed at international buyers, including those from RAK Properties's community in Ras Al Khaima, Mina Al Arab.

Hubpay CEO Kevin Kilty described this collaboration as a way for developers to reach global buyers through regulated payment infrastructure. RAK Properties Chief Financial Officer Rahul Jogani stated that accepting digital assets will help the company reach customers who are already investing in cryptocurrencies.

Coinbase uses Bitcoin as collateral in mortgage cooperation in the United States

In the United States, Coinbase and Better Mortgage announced on August 26th that their Bitcoin-backed housing financing products were officially launched on a full scale. Better is responsible for issuing and servicing the loans, while Coinbase provides the infrastructure for transferring and holding cryptocurrency collateral.

The product combines a traditional first-priority mortgage with a separate Bitcoin-backed loan to cover the down payment. According to reports on the terms, applicants are required to hold Bitcoin worth at least 250% of the down payment amount.

During the period when Better controls the collateral, the borrower is not allowed to trade or withdraw the pledged coins. According to the published terms, daily fluctuations in the Bitcoin price will not trigger a margin call, but once the loan is overdue for 60 days, Better may liquidate the collateral.

Announcement Better states that eligible Coinbase One members can receive a transaction credit funded by lending institutions, amounting to 1% of the value of the mortgage loan, with a cap of $10,000. This discount applies to eligible standard mortgages, home equity lines of credit, and refinancing products. The Better will cover this credit and record it in the borrower's transaction disclosure documents.

After Alphabet's financial report was released, its stock price tumbled, while Microsoft's performance remained relatively stable.
