On October 28th, Morgan Stanley raised the target price for Visa from $416 to $471, maintaining a "overweight" rating. Based on the current stock price of $401.86, the new target price indicates a potential upside of about 17%.
This adjustment is mainly based on the postponement of the valuation reference year. Morgan Stanley maintains a price-earnings ratio valuation standard of around 27 times and updates the valuation basis to an expected earnings per share of $17.79 for 2028.
Morgan Stanley believes that strong personal consumer spending, growth in cross-border payment transactions, expansion of value-added services, and new payment businesses will continue to support the stable growth of Visa's profits.
The institution expects that the stock price of Visa will at least achieve a growth rate comparable to earnings per share. As investors further recognize its profitability stability in different economic environments, there is still room for a slight increase in valuation levels.
In addition, Morgan Stanley believes that the development of stablecoins and AI intelligent entity technology will bring new business growth opportunities for Visa rather than threatening its existing payment business.
