IT News on October 26: On October 26, artificial intelligence startup Anthropic submitted registration documents to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), planning to issue Class A common stocks for the first time and applying to list on NASDAQ under the stock code “ANT”. The scale of this issuance, pricing range, and listing date have not yet been announced.
The prospectus reveals that the company's performance has shown a trend of rapid growth: in 2025, revenue amounted to 4.585 billion US dollars (Note from IT: at current exchange rates, this is approximately 30.616 billion RMB), with a net loss of 4.1965 billion US dollars (at current exchange rates, approximately 280.219 billion RMB); in the first half of 2026, revenue soared to 16.286 billion US dollars (at current exchange rates, about 108.749 billion RMB), a year-on-year increase of 13 times. Although the net loss for that period expanded to 8.0748 billion US dollars (at current exchange rates, approximately 53.919 billion RMB), the operating loss significantly narrowed to 693 million US dollars (at current exchange rates, about 4.627 billion RMB), and after adjustments, the operating profit turned from loss to profit, reaching 1.6 billion US dollars (at current exchange rates, about 10.684 billion RMB). The company explained that the expansion of revenue and the optimization of computing power operation efficiency have driven the main business in a positive direction. The substantial book loss mainly came from changes in the fair value of convertible notes, rather than actual operating expenses.
In addition, the company has achieved leapfrog expansion in customer base: as of the end of June 2026, the number of paying customers with an annual income of $100,000 (approximately 668,000 RMB at current exchange rates) or more exceeded 6,000, representing a more than tenfold increase from just over 400 customers in just over a year. The Claude series of new products has been continuously launched, driving simultaneous growth in both subscription and pay-as-you-go revenues.
Computing power infrastructure becomes the largest expense item in the future. As of the end of June this year, Anthropic holds $112.4 billion (approximately 750.545 billion yuan at current exchange rates) in cash equivalents and $19.3 billion (approximately 128.875 billion yuan at current exchange rates) in short-term investments, indicating sufficient financial reserves. At the same time, the company has signed large-scale long-term computing power leasing agreements, with a confirmed minimum future payment amount of about $417 billion (approximately 2.78 trillion yuan at current exchange rates); agreements with terms yet to be finalized are expected to result in additional expenditures of $125 billion to $150 billion (approximately 834.681 billion to 1 trillion yuan at current exchange rates) for the purchase of servers, data centers, and cloud resources, with payment cycles spanning multiple years. The company has made it clear that it will continue to increase its investment in computing power in the future, relying on revenue and equity financing to support these capital expenditures.
