On October 24th, according to local time on the 23rd, foreign media Puck cited three informed sources, stating that Microsoft offered Netflix $800 million (Note from IT's website: the current exchange rate is approximately 5.351 billion RMB), hoping to reach a seven-year exclusive licensing agreement that would allow Netflix to adapt the game characters from Xbox into films and TV series for exclusive broadcast on their streaming platform.
Netflix initially offered a bid of $500 million (approximately 3.344 billion yuan at current exchange rates) to obtain the exclusive film and television adaptation rights for the Xbox game, with a licensing period of 7 years. However, Microsoft requested to raise the price to $800 million, and the two parties ultimately failed to reach an agreement.

Xbox responded to this: 'The interest from the outside world in collaborating with our games' intellectual property has reached record levels. Netflix is a partner we value greatly, and we are very much looking forward to the upcoming animated series based on our games 'Minecraft' and 'Diablo' that we are working on together. In addition, there are other adapted works planned between us as well.'
Netflix refuses to comment on this. It is reported that Xbox has turned to seeking smaller-scale transactions with more partners, no longer aiming for a comprehensive exclusive licensing agreement.
Microsoft previously collaborated with Paramount to launch a live-action series based on "Halo." The series premiered in 2022, with the second season launching in February 2024, before being canceled in July of the same year.
Netflix has collaborated with multiple game developers to launch several popular adaptations. Among them is the anime "Cyberpunk: Edge Walker," whose second season was released this week. Renowned game producer Hideo Kojima makes a cameo appearance in the new season of the anime, and he also had a cameo role in "Cyberpunk 2077" before.
