Professional operators can now test USDT on the Bitcoin network and get ready for integration for its public launch in November.

Utexo has been launched, along with Utexo Mint. This is a dedicated platform for professional operators, intended for institutions that are ready to support and provide the Bitcoin version of USDT. The public launch is scheduled for November 28th.

According to a press release shared with Bitcoin Magazine, the return of USDT has created opportunities to introduce dollar liquidity into the Bitcoin ecosystem and will open up new markets such as trading and BTC mortgage lending. The press release states that operators who complete the integration ahead of time are expected to be among the first to offer a Bitcoin version of USDT, "capturing initial demand and establishing market share as adoption grows."

Utexo indicates that existing partners are already making preparations for the launch. The company is currently opening up access to exchanges, wallets, market makers, over-the-counter trading platforms, trading companies, and other professional operators interested in supporting the Bitcoin version of USDT.

Utexo Mint

Utexo Mint is a dedicated platform for verified operators, used for minting and redeeming USDT on the Bitcoin network.

In its sandbox environment, the operator can test how USDT can run on Bitcoin through RGB, including "minting, confidential transfers, and redemption." This testing period should allow the operator to verify its transaction processes and complete the integration before going live.

Utexo indicates that tools will also be provided to manage the USDT liquidity between various supported networks, and to enable conversions between fiat currencies and USDT, giving operators greater flexibility in terms of funding sources and allocation methods. Utexo also states that although Utexo Mint is not owned or operated by Tether, the Bitcoin version of USDT is still supported by USDT through the USDT0 protocol of Tether.

Let USDT return to Bitcoin

USDT is making a comeback to Bitcoin. It was first launched on Bitcoin in 2014. Reports indicate that this will bring liquidity to the decentralized stablecoins ecosystem and expand the use cases for enterprises on this network. The company clarified that the Bitcoin version of USDT was launched by Utexo, not by Tether.

According to the press release, the Bitcoin version of USDT will be “designated with privacy at its core,” allowing individuals to hold and transfer funds without having to publicly disclose the details of their transactions. Regarding the various technical differences between its Bitcoin implementation and the blockchain version of EVM, the press release states that USDT, which is based on RGB, avoids address reuse – a practice considered the worst in terms of privacy, and could even expose holders to risks associated with quantum computers.

In terms of compliance, the press release states that companies will be able to maintain the control measures required for regulatory compliance while protecting sensitive business activities. Regarding how to provide both privacy and compliance with sanctions and law enforcement requirements as product features, Utexo said about Bitcoin Magazine: "We will monitor all incoming sources USDT and check the AML ratings; we will also monitor the risks on the RGB side. We have established a cooperative relationship with Crystal Intelligence in the area of AML."

This promotion will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will begin on November 28th, at which time USDT will be made available to the public on the Bitcoin network through RGB. Once launched, users will be able to use this product through partner wallets and exchanges, bringing new liquidity to exchange service providers and lending platforms.

According to Utexo, the second phase is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2027, during which USDT will be extended to the Lightning Network for use in payments.
