The world is already filled with various personal assistants and efficiency aids, and new products are released almost every week. Now, Anthropic has also joined this competition, hoping to attract users' attention with a new app called Claude Duet, with the goal of competing with products such as Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Hark, Instinct, Grok Bot, and Fo.
Anthropic indicates that this new proxy is mainly aimed at professionals and small businesses to help them automate and manage tasks. The company also distinguishes it from personal proxies such as Instinct, stating that Duet is not adept at handling errands or booking airline tickets, nor can it display the browser operation process to users in real time.
On the contrary, Duet can generate daily reports for users, create dashboards, or propose action recommendations based on user data. Similar to other agents, Duet can perform tasks in the background through its own virtual machine while the user is handling other matters; if user approval is required, it will come back to seek confirmation.
The launch of this product coincides with a market shift from AI assistants to AI agents that can perform tasks on behalf of users. Many competitors of Anthropic are also focusing on enterprise use cases. Although Muse from Meta is a personal AI assistant, the company has also released a version for small businesses that can integrate with other applications. Dots from OpenAI also has an enterprise-oriented approach and can be integrated with professional tools.
Anthropic indicates that Duet will proactively offer its suggestions while monitoring tasks that are still in progress. Duet is built based on the Claude Opus 5.5 model and can connect to over 6,000 connectors and plugins within Claude Marketplace. It can also facilitate online purchases on behalf of users through the Link digital wallet of Stripe or the Shop Pay of Shopify.
The company stated that sensitive steps such as payments will require user approval. However, Duet will not engage in securities trading, nor will it transfer funds between accounts.
Anthropic has also released a new classifier to check each message in order to prevent the leakage of sensitive information. The company stated that, by default, this agent will reject requests for credit card numbers and government identification information.
Claude Duet is currently used for logging in to iOS and Android. It can also be used through the Claude.ai web interface and is provided to Pro and Max customers in a research preview format. Users need to join the waiting list first to be able to try it out.
