Norway's sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, said on Thursday that its investment portfolios suffered a loss of $30 billion in the third quarter due to rising interest rates weakening the returns on its bond holdings.

The person in charge of managing this fund, which amounts to 2.3 trillion US dollars, Norges Bank Investment Management, stated that the book return for that quarter was a loss of 278 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately 29.7 billion US dollars).

The fixed-income investment return of this fund was -3.5%, and the fund management team stated that this is a key reason for the overall decline.

Deputy CEO Trond Grande stated in a statement: "The fund's returns were nearly flat, and ultimately slightly negative, as rising interest rates led to weaker performance in our fixed-income investments."

Goldman Sachs raises the target price of Calumet to $57, maintaining a neutral rating
Goldman Sachs analyst Neil Mehta raised the target price for Calumet from $45 to $57 and maintained a neutral rating on the stock. The firm stated before the company's third-quarter earnings report that it is optimistic about the improvement in the economic efficiency of its renewable fuels business, as well as the support that the tight supply and demand situation provides for the base oil profit margin of Specialty Product Solutions. However, they will not take a more positive stance until they have a clearer understanding of the implementation of MaxSAF's expansion project.

SpaceX may be considering a merger with Tesla, but such large entities that span multiple industries including aerospace, autonomous driving, robotics, energy, and AI, can make it more difficult for investors to understand and value them. The article points out that the market often discounts diversified companies, and Musk will need to prove to investors that the two companies are inherently meant to be together.
