News from the IT Home on October 17th: On October 15, 2026, the World Energy Storage Conference opened in Ningde, Fujian. The World Energy Storage Conference has been held in Ningde for three sessions, attracting representatives from government departments, renowned experts, corporate executives, and industry organizations from over 50 countries and regions.
According to China Securities Golden Bull, Xiong Jijun, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated in his speech that China has achieved remarkable results in the development of new energy storage industries. In the next step, efforts will be made to balance development with safety, strengthen technological innovation, adhere to demand-driven approaches, jointly build a global ecosystem, resolutely prevent "involution-style" competition, and promote the industry's transformation from scale expansion to innovation-led growth.
According to the introduction, in terms of industrial scale, the production of energy storage batteries exceeded 420 gigawatt-hours ( GWh ) in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 110%; as of the end of June 2026, the cumulative installed capacity of new types of energy storage exceeded 153 million kilowatts, which is 50 times higher than at the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
IT has noticed that officials have repeatedly emphasized the need to manage "involutionary" competition. In April of this year, four departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held a symposium for enterprises in the power and energy storage battery industry, emphasizing the firm resistance against unreasonable and unfair competitive practices in order to maintain a healthy and orderly market environment.
