Netflix has hired a new content director at a time when stock prices are falling and it is difficult to expand the audience base.

The company announced on Thursday that Bela Bajaria, who has been in charge of the business for Netflix films and series since 2023, will leave the company after nearly a decade in the position.

Netflix indicates that she will be replaced on October 26th by former Fox and Disney executives, Peter Rice. Rice previously served as the head of Disney's television business, during which time she was responsible for channels such as Hulu, as well as ABC, Disney Channel, and FX.

The day before this announcement was made, the streaming giant laid off about 1,000 employees on Wednesday, which was the largest round of layoffs it has undertaken in four years.

Co-CEO Ted Sarandos stated in a statement that she "led a significant transformation of Netflix," and mentioned that she helped the company expand its content offerings to include live events and sports competitions.

This is an ongoing report, which will be updated in the future.
