As the U.S. stock market has essentially entered a "24-hour trading" mode, options associated with stocks will also see an expansion of trading hours. According to a announcement from the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), its CBOE Futures Exchange (CFE) will start adding morning and post-closing trading sessions for certain stocks and options from next Monday.
Options on popular companies such as Alibaba, TSMC, NVIDIA, Apple, and Tesla are all covered by the announcement. For investors, the most direct change is that these stock options can be traded during the pre-market session of U.S. stocks from 7:30 am to 9:25 am Eastern Time, and trading can also continue for an additional 15 minutes after the regular trading session ends.
This coverage includes the "Big Seven of Technology" in the US stock market, as well as popular companies such as AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Micron, Oracle, Marvell Technologies, SanDisk, Palantir, Robinhood, among others. Alibaba, TSMC, Nokia, Pfizer, Bank of America, and Ford are also on the list of announced companies.
