IT News on October 16th: In addition to Apple's CEO John Ternus ( John Ternus ), Time magazine also interviewed Greg Joswiak ( Greg Joswiak ), Apple's Senior Vice President of Global Marketing, today.

When talking about the hardware plans for OpenAI, he stated that Apple is not worried about the competition brought by OpenAI entering the hardware field. "We don't feel any threat. Our ability to achieve such software-hardware integration means that we can create a better experience than anyone else."

Joswiak also talked about Apple's positioning of its artificial intelligence products. He stated that Apple does not develop products specifically for those AI enthusiasts who are obsessed with pursuing super intelligence. "We welcome them to use our products, but they are not our target users. Our goal is to make the daily lives of ordinary people better."

Time magazine pointed out that although Apple is training its own AI models, there is still a gap between it and industry leaders in cutting-edge AI technologies. Apple executives have not focused on chasing AGI, but rather on creating personalized, privacy-conscious AI experiences that can help ordinary users.

Joswiak refers to some of his fanatical AI followers as “lunatic fringe” (Note from IT: this term is often used to refer to a minority of extremists, fanatics, or diehards), and uses this to contrast with Apple’s product positioning aimed at everyday users.

Apple has long emphasized the integration capabilities between hardware, software, and services. Joswiak stated that the company believes that by integrating devices, operating systems, and services, a differentiated user experience can be provided.

Meanwhile, OpenAI is exploring hardware products, but the specific form of these products and their market performance remain to be seen.
