News from the home of IT on October 15th: At today's Red Magic new product launch event, the Red Magic 12 Pro + flagship gaming phone was officially released, available in three transparent color options: Deuterium Blade Transparent Dark Night, Deuterium Blade Transparent Silver Wing, and Deuterium Blade Transparent Ice Blue, with the retail price starting at 6499 yuan after subsidies.

IT Home noticed that Red Magic officially released a " ONE MORE THING " - the Red Magic 12 Pro + GOLDEN SAGA Ultimate Collector's Edition.

According to the official introduction, this limited edition will feature forged carbon cooling technology and will also come with a "imperial" specification of 24GB+1TB.

Against the backdrop of rising global storage memory prices, smartphones with larger memory and storage specifications are becoming increasingly rare. Many phone manufacturers have chosen to adjust their main product specifications to 12GB+256GB or 12GB+512GB. According to a memory price tracking report released by Counterpoint Research on July 29th, the price of smartphone memory increased by more than 80% in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the previous quarter.

Compared to the models of the same level launched in 2025, the cost structure of the 2026 smartphone BoM has further changed:

  • Low-end (wholesale price below $200):In the second quarter of 2026, the cost of the BoM model with similar specifications increased by 70% year-on-year, with almost all of the increase driven by storage costs. The smartphone OEM has significantly streamlined its entry-level product offerings and adjusted its product line to mitigate short-term risks of profit losses.
  • Mid-range (wholesale price of $400 to $600):In the second quarter of 2026, the cost of BoM increased by 52% year-on-year. Memory costs accounted for 40% of the total cost of BoM. In this price range, the practice of over-specifying processors and imaging systems is on the decline.
  • Flagship level (wholesale price above $800):In the second quarter of 2026, the cost of the flagship model BoM also increased by nearly 50% year-on-year. DRAM surpassed SoC to become the most expensive individual component among flagship smartphones. During the second quarter, the phenomenon of higher starting retail prices compared to previous generations began to emerge in flagship models as well.
