YouTube Music announced on Wednesday the launch of a new tagging system to help listeners identify songs created with generative AI, including works involving composition and vocals. This tag will be displayed on the player page and will also be extended to the main YouTube app. YouTube stated that partners can label their works as “Fully Gen AI”, “Partly Gen AI” or “No Gen AI”, and the platform will focus on disclosure rather than imposing comprehensive restrictions. AI Participating in this system itself will not result in songs losing their monetization eligibility.

YouTube Music announced on Wednesday the launch of a new labeling system aimed at increasing transparency regarding songs created with generative AI. Now, listeners will be able to easily identify tracks created using AI, including works that have made use of AI in both composition and vocals.

This tag will be displayed on the player page. By clicking on the tag, you can see more information about the specific role of AI in the creation of this track.

It is worth noting that these tags will also be extended to the main YouTube application.

YouTube indicates that the company collaborates with multiple music partners and has deployed its own detection tools to identify music generated by AI. According to their help page, partners using YouTube can declare the usage of generative AI in their works through one of three identifiers: “Fully Gen AI”, “Partly Gen AI”, or “No Gen AI”.

“Fully Gen AI” applies to tracks that are entirely generated by AI; “Partly Gen AI” refers to tracks where the artist may have incorporated components generated by AI, but also added their own live elements. Tracks edited using pitch correction tools such as Auto-Tune fall into the “No Gen AI” category.

At the time of this measure being introduced, AI generated music is rapidly expanding to major streaming services, and many platforms are also taking their own countermeasures. For example, Apple Music plans to incorporate the “Made With AI” tag into its AI Transparency Tags later this year. Spotify also has a “AI” tag, as well as a filter for music junk content.

Deezer has taken a relatively strict stance. In July, the platform stated that it receives nearly 90,000 tracks per day that are entirely generated by AI. Deezer will tag the music generated by detected AI and exclude it from algorithmic recommendations and playlist editing. Additionally, they will withhold royalties for fraudulent streaming plays. The company is also developing an option that allows users to filter out music generated by AI.

TIDAL will also tag recordings that are identified as being entirely generated by AI. Listeners are allowed to turn this feature off, and these recordings will be excluded from royalty calculations.

In contrast, YouTube places more emphasis on disclosure rather than comprehensive restriction. Its new labels aim to inform the audience about the role of AI in music creation, but merely involving AI does not disqualify a song from being monetized. YouTube is even attempting AI-driven music creation, including its tool Dream Track, which allows some creators to generate soundtracks that include the voices of participating artists AI.

Solana Sets the date for the next major upgrade
The Solana Foundation stated that Alpenglow will be enabled on October 21st, Beijing time, along with the mainnet epoch 1064. This upgrade will replace TowerBFT, reducing the final confirmation time of transactions from the current approximately 12.8 seconds to about 150 milliseconds. At the same time, since voting transactions will be moved out of the blocks, the apparent transaction volume of Solana and the data of TPS will decrease significantly, but this does not indicate a reduction in actual activity.
