Bitcoin life insurance company Meanwhile supported by Sam奥特曼 receives further financing

Against the backdrop of broader macroeconomic instability, the international demand for Bitcoin life insurance policies has risen, and Meanwhile has therefore completed a new round of financing.

Life insurance company Meanwhile, which has been approved to operate entirely in Bitcoin, announced that it has received $37.5 million in new financing from existing investors.

The company, headquartered in Bermuda, stated that its supporters include Sam奥特曼, the CEO of OpenAI. To date, Meanwhile has raised over $180 million in funding.

Meanwhile stated in the announcement that this round of financing was led by Bain Capital Crypto, with Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital also participating in the investment.

The company stated in a statement on Thursday that this round of financing comes at a time of increasing international demand for its Bitcoin life insurance policies, particularly in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, and this trend is occurring against a broader backdrop of macroeconomic instability.

"Rich families around the world already hold Bitcoin. What they lack is a regulated way to pass it on," said Zac Townsend, co-founder and CEO of Meanwhile. "Brokers approached us because their clients have been asking about it. This round of financing allows us to meet their needs."

Pass Bitcoin on to the next generation

At the beginning of 2026, Meanwhile launched BTC Life 1-Pay, which is a lifetime life insurance product designed for high-net-worth clients outside of the United States that requires a one-time payment. This is the company's second product line; previously, they had launched BTC 10-Pay for U.S. taxpayers.

The company stated that policies can be held by individuals, trusts, or companies, making them suitable for inheritance and estate planning purposes.

Meanwhile also stated that its long-term net underwriting income has exceeded the total of last year and is expected to more than double by 2026, although no specific figures have been disclosed.

Cointelegraph In June of this year, it was reported that the global insurance brokerage and risk consulting firm WTW acquired the crypto insurance platform Redefind and launched digital asset protection services, covering costs related to evidence collection and investigation, asset tracking, and legal claims in case of theft or loss.

Redefind is an encrypted insurance platform that allows individuals and institutions to purchase insurance for digital assets held under different custody arrangements. The company states that its system uses encrypted ownership proofs to verify the insured assets.

OpenAI and Anthropic are signing artificial intelligence infrastructure agreements worth tens of billions of dollars, but there is no need to pay the full amount in one lump sum when the contracts are announced. The article explains that such long-term cloud computing contracts typically spread out expenses, capacity reservations, and payment obligations over multiple years.
