The digital asset trading platform Blockchain.com hopes to enter the booming prediction market segment in the United States.

Blockchain.com revealed that the company has submitted two licensing applications to the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), hoping to launch event contracts and cryptocurrency derivative products for both retail and institutional customers in the United States.

CFTC is a federal agency in the United States responsible for regulating futures and derivatives. Blockchain.com applied to obtain a license for the designated contract market ( DCM ) in order to gain the qualifications of a futures exchange; at the same time, it applied to register as a futures commission merchant ( FCM ), which is also a derivatives contract broker.

Blockchain.com CEO and co-founder Peter Smith stated in a statement: "Users should be able to conveniently manage digital assets, trade derivatives, and place bets on real-world events without having to switch back and forth between multiple different applications. By submitting applications for licenses for DCM and FCM, we aim to advance towards this goal in the United States within a compliant regulatory framework."

Blockchain.com has previously launched a prediction market for some international users in collaboration with Polymarket; at the same time, it has introduced perpetual contract trading based on Hyperliquid technology, adopting a user-owned and managed model.

An increasing number of crypto companies are seeking US licenses to engage in derivatives business, and traditional institutions are also entering the crypto sector. Several digital asset exchanges have already established their own event contract trading markets; Coinbase mainly carries out such business through cooperation with Kalshi. Meanwhile, Kalshi and Polymarket are entering the high-risk mainstream cryptocurrency trading arena, targeting both domestic and overseas users in the United States.

In just this one year alone, several institutions, like Blockchain.com, have submitted applications for relevant licenses to regulatory authorities. By 2026, CFTC has already approved six brand-new designated contract markets (DCM).

The company is also advancing its listing process. In May of this year, it secretly submitted a registration draft for Class A common shares to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); Bloomberg reported in September that the company plans to complete its listing this year, with a target valuation of $4 billion to $6 billion.

According to Darkfost, the reserves of ETH on Binance have dropped to 3.47 million, a six-month low; on October 6th, there were over 320,000 withdrawal transactions in a single day. Despite the price decline, Ethereum is still testing the range of $2,450 to $2,620. If it manages to return above $2,600, analysts predict it could rise to around $3,400; if it loses that level, $2,100 is seen as the next support level.
