New York, October 6, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Ether.fi is a new crypto bank built around a single account, allowing users to save, appreciate the value of, and consume digital assets. The company has announced a partnership with MoonPay. MoonPay is a global fintech company that provides the infrastructure for the transfer of value between fiat currencies and digital assets. Ether.fi is migrating its core payment infrastructure to MoonPay's integrated technology stack, covering how users can fund applications, transfer funds within applications, and withdraw cash.

Most new banks purchase these functions from different suppliers. Each additional integration brings extra costs and compliance requirements, and usually comes with its own authentication processes. Users often need to authenticate once for their bank cards, once more for their bank accounts, and once again for the funding channels, and during transactions, they are handed over to external service providers. The announcement states that this issue is more difficult to resolve in self-managed products than in traditional applications, which is one of the important reasons why no one has been able to provide a seamless version in the past five years. Ether.fi and MoonPay are working together to create such an experience: users retain control over their own keys, while the usage experience is as simple as that of mainstream new banking apps.

“ether.fi’s benchmark is not other crypto products,” said Rok Kopp, co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of ether.fi. “It’s any banking app that users open every morning. Every integration we make is measured against this standard.”

The growth of Ether.fi comes from consumption, not speculation.

Ether.fi indicates that its bank card has become one of the largest blockchain-based consumer products in the cryptocurrency industry. According to data from Paymentscan which tracks blockchain-based bank card activities, in September 2026, users of the ether.fi card spent a total of 123.7 million US dollars, involving 1.5 million transactions and 48,162 active addresses. This represents a growth of over five times compared to the 24.1 million US dollars spent in September 2025. Since its launch in April 2025, the card has processed a cumulative consumption amount of 918.1 million US dollars, involving 11.6 million transactions and 113,000 addresses.

The announcement states that this growth does not follow the fluctuations of the crypto market. Over the past 12 months, Bitcoin has fallen by approximately 27%, with double-digit declines occurring in November 2025, as well as January, February, and June 2026. During the same period, the monthly card transaction volume of ether.fi has seen growth in 13 out of the last 15 months. The only two months of decline were in January and February 2026, with each decline being about 2%, while Bitcoin fell by 10% and 15% respectively during that time. In June 2026, when Bitcoin dropped by 20%, the transaction volume of ether.fi continued to grow.

The announcement states that the reason lies in the user scenarios of product usage. Companies and markets built around transactions are highly interdependent, as their revenue relies on speculators trading large amounts of assets; when prices fall, activity also declines accordingly. However, ether.fi users are engaged in activities such as purchasing groceries and paying rent. For them, their account balances represent cash. Although the underlying asset is a stable coin in a self-managed wallet on the blockchain, this is invisible to the users, and it should indeed remain that way.

The announcement states that this experience meets users' expectations for mainstream fintech services, although the underlying products are different. Users always hold their own keys, and ether.fi is unable to transfer or seize assets in their wallets. Funds flow through encrypted channels, which means they can be transferred faster and over longer distances compared to using traditional bank intermediaries. Moreover, since wallets are self-managed, ether.fi does not need to obtain a banking license for each market it enters. Traditional new banks typically expand by acquiring one license at a time; however, ether.fi can reach more markets by leveraging the fiat infrastructure licensed by MoonPay to handle peripheral transactions. The announcement claims that ether.fi goes further than other new banks in terms of ownership, coverage, and speed.

Four products that will be integrated into the ether.fi experience: MoonPay

MoonPay Headless Ramps The deposit and withdrawal processes will be natively integrated into ether.fi. Users can save their bank card information and top up their accounts with just one click. There are no web page views or redirects during the process. ether.fi controls the complete user interface, while the underlying payment tracks, compliance requirements, and global payment methods are handled by MoonPay.

MoonPay Trade Responsible for cross-chain routing and providing support for the conversion of encrypted assets within applications. Users do not need to worry about what type of asset they are transferring or on which chain the asset is located. They will enjoy faster settlement, greater liquidity, and the ability to access more chains from their existing wallets.

MoonPay Enterprise Each ether.fi user will be provided with a virtual account that includes an account number and a routing number. The payment channels include ACH, Fedwire, SWIFT, Faster Payments, SEPA, and Open Banking. Users' salaries, savings, or business income can be directly deposited into ether.fi, and funds can also be conveniently transferred to any associated bank account, with settlement completed within seconds through local payment channels. The announcement states that this will make ether.fi the user's primary financial account, rather than just a place used occasionally.

MoonPay Crypto Deposits Users are allowed to transfer funds to ether.fi from any location where they hold assets, whether it is Bitcoin or Solana. Users click on 'Deposit', select the token and network, and then can transfer funds to a QR code or address, or connect their wallet to a centralized exchange. The deposited tokens will subsequently be exchanged and added to the user's balance. Withdrawals are done in the reverse manner, with users being able to choose the tokens they wish to receive.

One experience, one verification.

Since this technology stack is integrated, bank cards, virtual accounts, funding channels, and applications are designed to provide a unified experience. Once a user completes the verification process, this information can be reused across different products, as long as it complies with local requirements, without the need to restart the verification process for each new product that is enabled.

"The platforms that ultimately succeed will be those that simplify the flow of capital," said Ivan Soto, founder and CEO of MoonPay. "The ether.fi is exactly the type of platform our infrastructure is designed for, and this collaboration demonstrates what can be achieved when a new bank chooses full functionality without compromising on the user experience."

Announcement states that Headless Ramps, Trade, Enterprise Virtual Accounts, and Deposit will be gradually rolled out to ether.fi users in the coming months. For more information about the MoonPay unified payment platform, please visit moonpay.com / business.
