XRP Asia was officially launched in XRP Seoul in 2026, with a focus on promoting the growth of XRP Ledger ( XRPL ) in the Asia-Pacific region. This new organization aims to attract more enterprises, developers, and financial institutions to join the network.
This launch coincides with the pre-upgrades of two major XRPL, namely Batch and Permission Delegation, which are scheduled to be launched in early October 2026.
XRP Asia Officially Launched
XRP Asia is led by Sabrina Tachdjian, who previously served as the Vice President of Hedera Foundation. She plans to attend an event during Korea Blockchain Week at the Shangri-La Hotel in Seoul on October 3rd, titled “Special Announcement: What’s Coming Next for the XRP Ecosystem in Asia”.
The event also arranged for representatives from Woori Bank, K Bank, and JB Bank to participate in a roundtable discussion on cross-border payments and tokenized deposits.
The organization's strategy covers four aspects: technology, startup success, community, and marketing.
The organization plans to assist developers through training, micro-grants, early-stage investment, and market entry support. Its focus is not limited to DeFi alone; it also includes retail applications, payments based on AI, as well as use cases for non-financial enterprises.
XRP Moving from Payment to Credit
The next phase will go beyond ecological construction. At XRP Seoul 2026, Ripple President Monica Long stated that the company plans to connect XRP Ledger ( XRPL ) with payment infrastructure.
She also stated, "We are conducting pilot projects related to credit, with the goal of launching them next year."
The plan includes using the pooled XRP as collateral to help provide funding for customer payments.
The plan was advanced after SBI Ripple Asia obtained approval from third-party prepaid payment tool issuers under Japan's Payment Services Act, and this approval supports the regulated prepaid token activities on XRPL.
October Core Protocol Upgrade
This regional promotion is also carried out in conjunction with the protocol upgrades in two plans, including Permission Delegation Infrastructure and Batch Amendment.
Firstly, the update for Permission Delegation Infrastructure is scheduled for October 8th. It will allow the company to delegate transaction signatures without relinquishing control of the main wallet.
Secondly, Batch Amendment is scheduled for October 9th. It will allow multiple transactions to be grouped and processed as a single ledger entry, which will help to improve the speed and efficiency of high-frequency activities.
Both of these upgrades require the support of over 80% of validators during their activation period.
