IT News on October 1st: Market research firm Omdia published a blog post today (October 1st) stating that due to factors such as early purchases and rising component costs, it is expected that the PC market in India will decline by 22% year-on-year in the second half of 2026.
The report indicates that in the second quarter of 2026, the PC market in India saw shipments of 4.1 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14%. Among these, laptop shipments amounted to 3 million units, with a year-on-year increase of 13%; desktop computer shipments reached 954,000 units, with a year-on-year increase of 15%.

In the consumer market, online and offline promotions have supported device purchases. Apple's laptop shipments have nearly doubled. The new MacBook series includes MacBook Neo. The share of laptops with artificial intelligence capabilities has increased from 28% to 44%.
According to BJW_KEEP_00001, the Indian market is projected to ship 15.4 million units in 2026, a 2.6% decrease year-on-year. Consumer shipments are expected to decline by 6%, and commercial shipments by 5%. Educational shipments are projected to grow by 63%, reaching 918,000 units.
In the second quarter of 2026, the Indian tablet market saw a 11% year-on-year increase in shipments, reaching 1.3 million units. Apple's shipments grew by 35%, while Lenovo's shipments nearly doubled. The institution expects the annual tablet shipments to amount to 5.1 million units, representing a year-on-year increase of 4.2%.

Breaking down by brand, the institution noted that the tablet shipments for the second quarter of 2026 were as follows:
- Samsung shipped 354,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%, with a market share of 26.6%.
- Apple shipped 314,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 34.5%, with a market share of 23.6%.
- Lenovo shipped 264,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 89.9%, with a market share of 19.9%
- Xiaomi shipped 157,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 1.7%, with a market share of 11.8%.
- Acer shipped 91,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%, with a market share of 6.8%
