Trump launches a new website America.gov driven by AI, creating a one-stop entrance for government services

U.S. President Donald Trump launched a new website on Tuesday driven by artificial intelligence (AI), aimed at creating a one-stop entry point for government services. As the public becomes increasingly skeptical about the economic and social impacts of AI, Trump further embraces AI.

Trump signed an executive order requiring all federal agencies to integrate their public-facing systems with a new website America.gov. "In this way, all these interfaces will be directly connected to our great and intelligent brain, a super brain."

Trump promoted this website during the entire-day event that featured technology industry leaders such as Elon Musk of Tesla, Jensen Huang of NVIDIA, and Blue Origin LLC's Dave Limp. Through this website, the public will be able to apply for benefits, set up mail forwarding, or change their names.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has opened the door to the possibility of the UK rejoining the EU after the next general election, promising to propose different options for a new relationship between the UK and the EU.

Barnham delivered a speech for the first time in his capacity as Prime Minister at the annual conference of the ruling Labour Party on Tuesday. He stated that he would attempt to reach a consensus on Britain's needs in order to explore more radical ways to rebuild UK-EU relations. After the speech, Barnham's spokesperson refused to rule out the possibility of making a commitment to rejoin the EU before the general election, which is scheduled to take place no later than August 2029.

Barnham told Labour members that the 2016 Brexit referendum made the UK more vulnerable and did not enable the UK to 'take back control' over borders and rule-making as promised by the pro-Brexit camp.

Amid growing concerns worldwide about the threats posed by artificial intelligence, U.S. President Donald Trump rejected the idea of introducing new federal regulations regarding AI after meeting with senior executives from the AI industry at the White House.

After having lunch with more than a dozen Silicon Valley leaders on Tuesday, Trump stated that existing laws are sufficient to protect Americans from the potential risks of AI. Among those in attendance were the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.

During a brief meeting with reporters in the East Room of the White House, Trump said, "Some people think that there should be a lot of self-regulation, but agencies such as the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation already provide regulation. However, self-regulation is very important."

OpenAI launches the always-online agent Dots; a new monthly fee option of $500 is added.

OpenAI has launched a continuously operating AI intelligent entity, competing with similar products from companies such as Meta.

OpenAI stated on Tuesday that this product, named Dots, is capable of operating a computer and retrieving information from various connected applications for conducting research, drafting documents, and software development.

The company stated that users can send messages to the chatbot or engage in conversations with it through ChatGPT, and they can also send messages to it via Slack or Microsoft’s Teams. Eventually, users will be able to communicate with it via text messages as well. OpenAI indicates that the company’s engineers are using this virtual assistant to fix dozens of software vulnerabilities every day.

Apple's new CEO, John Ternus, has begun to reshape this iPhone manufacturer just a few weeks after taking office, with the aim of accelerating product development, expanding the range of devices, and creating a more streamlined and engineering-focused organizational structure.

Insiders say that Ternus has been discussing relevant plans with colleagues internally. The preliminary ideas include reducing reliance on the traditional spring and autumn product release cycles and abolishing some middle management positions to minimize the hierarchy between engineers and executives.

Ternus believes that in the era of artificial intelligence, if Apple wants to remain competitive, it must launch products more quickly and be more daring in product development.

New York Federal Reserve Chairman John Williams stated that raising interest rates once more this year could be an appropriate move to help curb inflation, but he added that there is no urgency to take action at present, following the Fed's earlier rate hike earlier this month.

Williams stated in a prepared speech for an event in Buffalo, New York on Tuesday: 'If the economic trend generally conforms to my predictions, it may be appropriate to raise interest rates further later this year, which will help bring inflation back to the target level more promptly.'

Federal Reserve officials raised interest rates for the first time since 2023 in September. Williams stated that this move gives the Federal Reserve time to collect more data, thereby allowing for a clearer assessment of the economic outlook.

He said, "After we take policy actions at our September meeting, there is no need to rush into anything. We have time to gather more information."

Jim Cramer of CNBC stated on Tuesday that the artificial intelligence industry is losing the battle for public perception, and a shift in market attitude towards AI could drag down a number of stocks. He believes that companies need to better communicate the actual benefits brought by AI, otherwise negative sentiment could become another obstacle for a fragile market.

Interest rate hike expectations cool down, U.S. stock market indices close slightly lower; optical communications and AI concepts strengthen
The three major U.S. stock indices closed slightly lower on Tuesday, while the Nasdaq 100 managed to rise against the trend. Stocks in the fields of optical communications, semiconductors, and AI performed relatively strongly. Federal Reserve Chairman William Dudley from the New York Fed suggested that there might only be one more interest rate hike this year, which lowered expectations for further hikes in the short term. However, the yield on 30-year U.S. Treasury bonds still rose to a level not seen since 2002. Oil prices, on the other hand, tumbled due to diplomatic efforts and signs of increasing supply.
