IT News on September 28th: According to a report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun today (September 28th), Sony Group will be absent from the 2027 CES exhibition, and its affiliated companies will also not participate. As the group shifts its focus to entertainment fields such as gaming and music, the significance of Sony Group's participation in CES is gradually diminishing.
From 1967 to 2025, Sony Group continuously participated in the exhibition. In 2026, Sony Group itself did not participate; instead, it was Sony Honda Mobility, a company jointly funded by Sony and Honda, that appeared at the booth.
The booth of Sony Honda Mobility displayed AFEELA electric vehicles, offered a trial-play experience of PlayStation consoles, and also showcased technologies such as spatial capture.

Sony Group stated: "As our business focus shifts towards entertainment, IP (intellectual property), and creative technologies, we have decided not to participate in this exhibition. In the future, we will continue to cooperate with the organizer, the Consumer Technology Association of America ( CTA)."
As for whether to participate after 2028, Sony has not made a decision yet. Reports indicate that it is generally believed that in order to obtain a prominent booth location or larger display space at CES, continuous participation and thereby establishing relationships with CTA are indispensable. It is still uncertain whether Sony Group will be able to continue to get the advantageous locations near the entrance if they return to CES in the future.
According to IT, in 2027, another long-term exhibitor from CES was absent, and Panasonic Holdings, which has participated for 60 consecutive years, also decided not to attend.
