The product leader, Jazzi Cooper, indicated that an important use case for XRP could come from institutional mortgage scenarios. She believes that there is still significant room for institutional credit in the context of growing blockchain finance, and that the lending infrastructure of XRP Ledger is paving the way for such applications.
XRPL The current advancement of XLS-65 and XLS-66 is regarded as a key component. The former is a single-asset vault proposal that supports the aggregation of assets from multiple depositors; the latter is an on-chain lending protocol that allows the use of vault funds to issue fixed-term, unsecured loans.
Lending function enters voting phase
These two proposals are regarded by developers as the most important institutional lending deployments to date, and they are still in the voting phase. Developers also revealed that Lending Protocol will receive an update with v1.1 next week along with XRPL version 3.4.0, which will include new fixes and field adjustments.
Ripple, Cicada Partners, and ClearPool announced a partnership in August this year to introduce institutional lending into XRPL. ClearPool also stated this week that the next phase of expansion will focus on XRP Ledger, noting that there is still a large amount of institutional credit demand in that network that needs to be met.
