Nscale This British AI data center startup recently appointed former OpenAI, Meta, and Instacart executives to join the board of directors. The company is advancing preparations for its listing, and it is expected by the outside world that its IPO may be launched this fall.
The board of directors adds another heavyweight member
Simo once served as the AGI Deployment person in charge of OpenAI, and also held a position in Meta for over a decade. Later, she became the Chairman and CEO of Instacart, leading the company to achieve IPO in 2023. She is currently still providing advice to OpenAI on a part-time basis.
The founder, also known as CEO Josh Payne, stated that Simo understands how to drive the expansion of products targeting billions of users and is also aware of the requirements such products have for the underlying systems. The company mentioned that this is also a capability that was given significant consideration when forming its board of directors.
Accelerate the strengthening of the management team before listing
The board of directors of Nscale also includes well-known figures in the tech industry such as Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Decker, and Nick Clegg. The company hopes to leverage stronger governance and industry experience to prepare for its listing.
According to Bloomberg, which cited anonymous sources last week, Nscale is still seeking financing of up to $3.5 billion. The company, which was established just two years ago, has seen its valuation rise rapidly due to the growing infrastructure demands of AI.
