On Wednesday, according to legal AI and startup Harvey, the company completed a new round of financing of $550 million, with its latest valuation reaching $15.5 billion. Just a few months have passed since it completed its previous round of financing in March this year with a valuation of $11 billion, and capital continues to drive up the company's valuation.

Valuation nearly doubled within nine months

This round of financing was co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Harvey previously announced the completion of a $200 million financing in March, with a valuation of $1.1 billion at that time; further back, in December last year, the company's first round of financing corresponded to a valuation of $8 billion.

According to company disclosures and PitchBook data, Harvey has completed at least 8 rounds of financing since 2023, with 5 rounds occurring since 2025 alone. If some of the additional rounds are calculated separately, this round can be considered to be close to the F-round stage of financing.

  • This round of financing amount: $550 million
  • Latest valuation: $15.5 billion
  • Total cumulative financing: over $1.55 billion

Recently launched the first self-developed model

Not long before this new funding was received, Harvey just released its first internal model, Harvey Tenet. This model is built on the open-source weight model Kimi K3 and was trained after completing processing of legal data; the inference service provider Fireworks participated in the related work.

Harvey is still promoting clients to adopt and retrain their own open-source weight models. This indicates that while the legal industry is accelerating the use of AI tools, they are also attempting to reduce their dependence on providers of closed-source cutting-edge models such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Legal AI Financing Heat Continues

From the perspective of financing pace and product initiatives, the capital market continues to show increased interest in vertical industries AI, especially enterprise service platforms that have already established clear customer scenarios. The latest financing round for Harvey also reflects that the legal AI sector remains attractive in terms of model capabilities, industry data, and commercialization efforts.

Additional information:TechCrunch mentioned that Harvey did not publicly disclose the official round name for this financing round, and external databases usually categorize it based on the pricing rounds and timeline.
