Prentis is a newly established AI research lab focusing on computer use models. The company was co-founded by serial entrepreneur Ritankar Das, along with Reid Hoffman and Mark Pincus. Sources familiar with the matter say the company is in talks to raise $100 million at a $1 billion valuation.

A client contract has been signed.

The company stated that Prentis primarily develops agency tools for scenarios such as insurance claims and handling irregularities in customs tax refunds. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the company has signed contracts worth up to $50 million with several clients, including a healthcare management services organization, a manufacturer, and an apparel and merchandise maker.

Model and Commercialization Progress

Prentis also claims that its Hive-32B model outperforms OpenAI's GPT-5.4 and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.6 on two computer usage benchmarks. The company stated in its funding materials that, based on a 20% fee model for savings, it expects annualized revenue of $75 million by the third quarter of this year.

Competition is intensifying

This company is betting that automating routine office tasks will become a major application of AI faster than writing code. However, this field is already highly competitive. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab are all advancing AI agents for computer use. Anthropic also acquired Seattle-based startup Vercept this year.

Team Background

Prentis' CEO, Ritankar Das, is also the founder of the AI holding company Titan. The company website indicates that Prentis has hired more than 25 employees, with researchers from OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta, Tencent, and Alibaba.
