According to CoinMeta, Taiwan will implement emergency short-selling restrictions starting Monday and is preparing to deploy a fund of $15 billion. Previously, the Taiwanese stock market (TAIEX) experienced its worst week since 2001. On Friday, Taiwanese stocks tumbled 3737.67 points (9%) during trading, falling below 40,000 points and hitting a low of 37,837.05 points, marking the beginning of a bear market and the fourth-largest closing point loss. As the selling pressure (AI) spread from Wall Street to Asia, TSMC (TSMC) fell 4.46% in Taiwan on Friday, closing at $2140, following a 10.78% decline in its U.S.-listed shares on Thursday. Taiwan will reduce the maximum short-selling limit for borrowed stocks from 30% to 3% and increase the minimum margin requirement from 90% to 130%. Influenced by these news, TSMC closed at $375.44 on Friday, up $22.34 (+6.33%). Notably, despite a 26% decline in the stock price over the month, TSMC's revenue still grew by 41% to $47 billion, with a gross margin of 66%. According to Bloomberg data, foreign investors have net sold more than $45 billion in Taiwanese stocks this quarter.
