According to CoinMeta, as reported by TV5Monde, the Criminal Court of Paris, France, sentenced a former employee of Holograph Foundation to five years in prison, of which two years are to be served in actual custody and three years are on conditional probation. The court found that the man illegally generated 1 billion HLG tokens in 2024 by modifying the token issuance conditions, which were worth approximately 14 million US dollars at the time. He then transferred these tokens to his personal wallet and proceeded to transfer funds with two accomplices through multiple cryptocurrency exchange accounts. The two accomplices were each sentenced to two years in prison (with 14 months of probation) and fined 80,000 euros, as well as two years of probation and a fine of 40,000 euros. The main defendant was convicted of offenses including intrusion into automated data processing systems, organized fraud, money laundering, and participation in a criminal gang. The court also dismissed the compensation claim made by Holograph Foundation regarding the decline in token prices, deeming that there was insufficient evidence to prove that the drop in token value was directly caused by this fraudulent activity.
