Dan Ives: The sell-off of tech stocks after the mid-term elections has been overestimated

According to CoinMeta, analyst Dan Ives stated that the sell-off in tech stocks after the mid-term elections was "overestimated." He compared it to the sell-offs in March 2020 and the "Liberation Day" sell-off in April 2025, calling it an opportunity to buy for tech winners. He expects that by the end of this year, about 40 GW of data center capacity in the United States will be online, with another 40 to 45 GW to be put into use in 2027. He pointed out that data centers that have already obtained permits or are under construction will not be halted, including projects in Texas. Even if 30% of the planned data centers are canceled, he still expects that capital expenditures by large tech companies will reach $3 trillion to $4 trillion in the coming years. He believes that the elections will slow down the development of artificial intelligence, but not bring it to a halt.
