According to CoinMeta, on Friday morning, Asian stock markets tumbled significantly, following the selling trend seen in U.S. stocks the previous night. South Korea's SK Hynix plummeted by 12%, and Samsung Electronics fell by 10%, dragging down South Korea's KOSPI index by more than 8% at one point, which triggered a circuit breaker. The Nikkei 225 index fell below 57,000 points, with a decline of over 6.7%, and Kioxia dropped by 11%. Taiwan's weighted index opened with a nearly 9% drop, and TSMC fell by nearly 10%. There are concerns that changes in the U.S. political landscape could lead to a slowdown in data center construction, which in turn could impact the growth prospects of semiconductor companies. Analysts pointed out that a Democratic Party victory in the election could act as a catalyst, triggering a more sustained wave of liquidations in AI stocks. Meanwhile, the market is re-evaluating the possibility of an end to the Iran war, and international oil prices have rebounded. Analysts from ANZ Bank said that the rapid and substantial drop in oil prices after the election results were announced may have been an overreaction. They noted that the market is beginning to realize the reality that Iran still controls the Strait of Hormuz and is unlikely to give up this control.
