Claude Unraveling a 40-Year Biology Mystery: Restoring a Mysterious Protein Shell for the First Time
2026-11-05 18:21:47
According to CoinMeta, Claude participated in a study that for the first time restored a mysterious protein shell known as vault. This shell was discovered in 1986 and is found in all human cells, with a size approximately three times that of ribosomes. The research team analyzed about 15 billion protein sequences, screened out 7 candidate proteins, and ultimately confirmed that 4 of them could assemble into vault-like particles, and restored their complete three-dimensional models. The viral version consists of 96 proteins, while the human version has 78. The study also found that there is a groove inside vault that contains unknown small molecules, which may be related to cellular metabolism.
