According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The Wall Street Journal, on Thursday, long-term U.S. Treasury yields fell to eight-week lows as investors believed that fiscal constraints might tighten following the Democrats' apparent victory in the midterms in the United States, which would be beneficial for the bond market. According to Tradeweb data, yields on U.S. Treasuries of various maturities generally declined. Among them, yields on 10-year and 30-year Treasuries touched eight-week lows of 4.837% and 5.229% respectively during the session, before rebounding slightly, but remained on a downward trend for the day. After falling to a two-month low on Wednesday, the yield on two-year Treasuries was slightly above that low at the latest trading levels. Shari Hensrud, the chief investment officer of MissionSquare, stated that a divided Congress could be favorable for the bond market, but it would not solve the problem of fiscal deficits. A decrease in fiscal risks could support long-term Treasuries and exert some downward pressure on long-term yields, while short-term Treasury yields are still more influenced by Federal Reserve policy, inflation, and the labor market conditions.
