According to CoinMeta, OpenAI announced that its AI model has overturned the widely accepted conjecture about computational difficulty (ETH) that has been in place for over two decades, with the original proponent personally participating in the verification. OpenAI announced three scientific breakthroughs in AI, covering mathematics, computer science, and physics. In the field of computer science, AI discovered a faster sub-exponential time algorithm that can accurately count all solutions that meet the criteria, which means that hundreds of studies that rely on ETH as a premise need to be re-examined. In mathematics, AI proved the validity of a local smoothing conjecture proposed in 1991 in all dimensions and also solved the Kakeya conjecture and the Stein constraint conjecture. In physics, AI provided a rigorous mathematical proof of existence for quantum chromodynamics and Yang-Mills theory, addressing a Millennium Problem for which a $1 million reward was offered. The proofs in mathematics and computer science have been made public and have been formally verified through Lean. The two original proponents of ETH have joined independent review efforts, while the physical results have not yet been made public and will be further verified by experts including Nobel Prize laureate in Physics, David Gross.
