Four French financial institutions suggest allowing stablecoin rewards, opposing the expansion of the ban
2026-10-27 06:00:20
According to CoinMeta, the French Ministry of Finance, the Financial Markets Authority, the Bank of France, and the Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority recommend that the European Commission allow third parties to issue stablecoin rewards under certain conditions, and oppose extending the interest ban to lending and pledging activities. These four institutions argue that platforms should disclose reward information and not promise guaranteed returns, and that regulators should monitor the impact of these rewards on bank deposits. The European Central Bank and central banks of EU countries advocate for maintaining the ban and including rewards, as well as lending and pledging activities, within the restrictions. The European Commission is required to submit a review report by June 30, 2027.
