According to CoinMeta, the Canadian government has launched a public consultation on a stablecoin bill, with implementation expected in 2027. The consultation period lasts for 60 days and aims to gather public feedback on the regulatory framework for non-financial institution stablecoin issuers, including proposals that may prohibit profit payments. The government stated that the proposed rules will require non-financial institution stablecoin issuers to register with the Bank of Canada before issuing stablecoins and to redeem them within three working days after receiving requests from token holders, without charging a fee exceeding 1% of the total value.
