India’s CoinDCX confirms a loss of $16 million
2026-10-27 00:58:38
According to CoinMeta, Indian cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX confirmed that its wallet infrastructure was attacked, resulting in a loss of approximately $16 million, which contradicts the statement made by one of its co-founders earlier who called the report a “false alarm.” The company stated in a blog post that around 15.99 million USDT were transferred and emphasized the safety of customer funds. The incident occurred on October 21st, and CoinDCX was attributed to an internal process error that led to the failure to clean up inactive wallets. The exchange previously suffered a hacker attack in July 2025 that resulted in a loss of about $44 million, bringing its total losses to nearly $60 million. CoinDCX stated that it will continue to investigate and reiterated that user balances were not affected.
