According to CoinMeta, a Washington-based think tank in the United States released a report stating that October was the most severe month for attacks on merchant vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters, with a total of 28 confirmed and reported attacks, setting a record. Norman Riedan, a senior researcher at the think tank, said that since the US and Israeli war against Iran began on February 28, there have been 113 attacks in the region in total. Data from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) shows that since the outbreak of the conflict with Iran, there have been 120 related incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the broader waters of the Middle East, with more than 30 super-large crude oil carriers damaged, including 11 in just October alone.
