Starknet Community Supports Exploration of Independent Blockchain, 93.5% of Votes Approve

According to CoinMeta, the Starknet community received 93.52% support in a governance vote on October 22nd and decided to explore becoming an independent quantum-resistant blockchain. This decision may end its reliance on Ethereum’s security infrastructure. A total of 3,236 votes were recorded in the vote, which authorized Starkware and the foundation to investigate the proposal, but did not approve a departure from Ethereum; any such transition would require a separate governance process. Starknet currently processes transactions independently but still relies on Ethereum for important security and settlement functions. Starkware hopes that Starknet will achieve quantum security by 2027.
