According to CoinMeta, New York Attorney General Letitia James has filed a lawsuit in court, demanding that the founders of the bankrupt cryptocurrency and foreign exchange trading platform Novatech, Cynthia and Eddy Petion, as well as related companies, pay $1.37 billion due to their alleged involvement in a Ponzi scheme. The attorney general seeks the return of approximately $1.13 billion in investor funds, along with $232.5 million in interest. In August 2025, the court held Petion and his wife, along with their company, responsible for not responding to the lawsuit. Over 11,000 New York investors lost tens of millions of dollars in Novatech and an earlier cryptocurrency mining project, AWS Mining.
