According to CoinMeta, the Financial and Economic Planning Committee of the South Korean National Assembly conducted its comprehensive national policy audit for the year 2026, during which disagreements arose between the ruling party and the opposition parties regarding the taxation of virtual assets. Yun Ho-deok, a member of the Democratic Party, stated that delaying or repealing the already passed laws would undermine the foundation of the nation. Lim Yi-ja, a member of the National Power Party, pointed out that overseas exchanges are not obligated to submit transaction details to South Korea, which affects the fairness of taxation, and that the industry is not adequately prepared to establish the necessary infrastructure.
