According to CoinMeta, six blockchain organizations – Stellar Development Foundation, Hedera, Aptos Labs, Ava Labs, Cardano Foundation, and Chainlink Labs – jointly submitted a letter of opinion to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), requesting that the definition of “digital commodities” and their non-securities attributes be clarified in the proposed “Regulations on Crypto Asset Supervision.” The signatory organizations noted that the regulatory interpretation issued by the SEC in March 2026 has established a classification for digital commodities, but the relevant definitions currently only appear in the preamble of the proposed regulations and have not yet been incorporated into the binding main text of the rules. These organizations believe that formally including these definitions in the regulations will help to reduce regulatory uncertainty and provide a more stable legal framework for public chain developers and ecosystem participants.
