OKX and the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, ICE, jointly oppose stock tokenization transactions
2026-10-21 07:55:42
According to CoinMeta, Andrew Cuomo, co-chair of the joint venture between OKX and ICE (the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange), stated that opposition to stock tokenization transactions is a normal reaction as expected, with many companies preferring to wait and see rather than being among the first to participate. Currently, 16 companies have opposed the tokenization of their stocks on the proposed OKXICE platform, including Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs, Broadcom, etc. The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) previously introduced a five-year innovation exemption that allowed eligible platforms to conduct tokenized stock transactions through automated market makers (AMMs) and liquidity pools, while giving issuers the option to participate or withdraw, with restrictions on the number of stocks involved and the volume of transactions. Cuomo emphasized that this mechanism is essentially a limited pilot program. Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo pointed out that issuers are mainly concerned with issues such as pricing, investor protection, and shareholder rights, and their opposition to the trading arrangements of OKXICE does not mean they oppose other stock tokenization schemes.
