S&P Global: Debts related to technology company AI may exceed expectations
2026-10-20 00:42:29
According to CoinMeta, S&P Global estimates that the world's largest technology companies may be carrying more AI-related liabilities than is currently known. However, the chief analyst for the industry stated that there is no need to adjust any credit ratings at this time. Mark Habib, the global head of S&P Global's Digital Infrastructure business, indicated that the biggest risk facing the ratings of hyperscale cloud service providers (Hyperscalers) is still whether the expected profits can be realized. He emphasized that there may be more undisclosed debts in the market. S&P expects that the top six hyperscale cloud service providers in the United States – Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, Oracle, Meta, and SpaceX – will invest over $7 trillion in data centers and other AI-related capital expenditures between 2025 and 2030, and will continue to have negative free cash flows until at least next year.
