Zcash team plans to allocate an independent viewing key for ZEC exchange
2026-10-19 14:00:12
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coindesk, the development team behind Zcash plans to assign a separate viewing key for each exchange conducted through NEAR and intents. This is to prevent future quantum computers from using the publicly available refund addresses on the chain to restore users' complete transaction histories through NEAR. This solution limits the potential scope of leakage to a single exchange; the expenditure keys remain in the user's main account and can be recovered with the help of private information retrieval technology. zakura indicates that wallets such as vizor built on their open-source library may add this feature in the coming weeks, while hardware wallets will need to wait for firmware support. To date, no quantum computer has been proven capable of cracking such keys.
