According to CoinMeta, four Google Gemini programming agents conducted a challenge in "Minecraft" over a period of 27 hours, experiencing a total of 605 deaths and costing approximately $520. Without any predetermined division of labor, the four agents independently wrote and executed 2,783 JavaScript programs within randomly generated survival worlds, ultimately defeating the End Dragon. They used the open-source library mineflayer to retrieve coordinate and environmental information, controlling their characters to mine and fight. The experiment showed that the models were called about 24,000 times before completing the level, processing 1.35 billion token, with 91% of the operations hitting the cache. The progress of this experiment lies in allowing general-purpose programming agents to plan and collaborate to complete tasks on their own, but there are also limitations such as the relatively low difficulty of the game and the convenience of information acquisition.
