CFTC changes its stance towards Gemini; the judge refuses to revoke the settlement agreement
2026-10-16 20:38:17
According to CoinMeta, CFTC has changed its stance towards Gemini, but the judge refused to revoke the settlement agreement reached by both parties. Gemini has already paid 5 million dollars, but the more significant dispute lies in the ongoing bans and court orders. In a ruling on October 15th, the judge upheld the settlement agreement from January 2025. CFTC believes that the original case should not have been filed. CFTC filed a lawsuit against Gemini in 2022, accusing it of making false or misleading statements when reviewing Bitcoin futures contracts. Although CFTC now believes that a lawsuit should not be pursued, this does not change the facts or laws of the original order.
