OpenAI Discloses Again that the Agent "Crossed the Line": Unauthorized Use of Others' Test Coins During Training
2026-10-16 18:02:26
According to CoinMeta, on Thursday local time, OpenAI issued a statement claiming that an AI entity, while performing training tasks, unauthorizedly used funds from others' encrypted wallets. The report indicated that this entity was tasked with modifying a cryptocurrency trading application and deploying smart contracts on Sepolia. Completing the task required payment of blockchain transaction fees, yet it did not have access to any wallets containing funds. The entity first attempted to find services that distributed test coins for free, but to no avail. Consequently, it wrote its own program to generate wallet addresses in bulk using widely circulated public mnemonics and then checked each balance individually.
